This film project is from a series of six films created by Integrity Films for the Music Department at Wells Cathedral School. The woodwind film follows Lilly Owens, a dedicated flautist in year 11 at Wells, as she reflects on her musical journey and growth over five years at the school. From practicing harmonics on Vicars Close to performing in the cathedral, Lilly finds inspiration in her surroundings and gains confidence through performance opportunities.
Under the guidance of committed teachers like Edward Leaker, head of the woodwind department, Lilly flourishes both musically and personally. With two hour-long lessons per week and participation in the National Youth Orchestra, Wells Cathedral School has prepared her well for musical excellence.
Balancing her passion for music with other interests like English, Lilly embraces the supportive community at Wells, where she feels accepted and inspired by fellow musicians. From woodwind platforms to concerto competitions, Lilly thrives in performance settings, showcasing her talent and growth as a flautist.
As she looks forward to pursuing music at a major conservatoire, Lilly acknowledges the profound impact Wells Cathedral School has had on her musical development and personal growth. Through its nurturing environment and rich performance opportunities, Wells has empowered Lilly to pursue her musical aspirations with confidence and determination.
