'Joe and Melita De Souza's Story' for Macmillan Cancer Support

This film, produced for Macmillan Cancer Support, was instrumental in lobbying the government to amend the Care Bill. It highlights the essential need for recognition and support for carers, shedding light on the daily challenges they face.

The story follows Joe De Souza and his wife, Melita, as they navigate the heart-wrenching news of her cancer recurrence after a tumor is found in her lung. The film delves into the support available to Joe as he cares for Melita during this profoundly difficult time in their lives.

Macmillan Cancer Support utilised this film in an online campaign aimed at updating the UK Care Bill. The goal was to ensure that carers of individuals diagnosed with cancer receive the recognition and assistance they need. Joe and Melita’s journey serves as a guide, pointing others towards services and support structures that can help those in similar situations find the necessary aid.

Directed and edited by our Managing Director Steve Milton, and created in collaboration with Spectrecom Films over just one intensive filming day, this project was instrumental in helping to bring about significant change to the UK Care Bill.
